Evolution of Wheat - Selective Breeding Crops

Wheat was wild at first.  People picked the best grains and planted them.  Now we have bread wheat and some people have problems eating wheat.

Up until the seventeenth century, the varieties of wheat grown globally were the same that had been grown for centuries.  People began to tire of the wheat, and began to carefully select the biggest and best grains at harvest to seed for the next crops.  Eventually, the new varieties of wheat were spread to other regions from immigrants and exporting, and those which grew well were continually grown.  Nowadays, wheat has the ability to survive in harsh climates, thus increasing yield.
