- No Name received its name after Interstate 70 was constructed. Shortly after its completion, the Colorado Department ofTransportation set out to improve signage. A DOT official noticed the region did not have a name and wrote "No Name" for Exit 119, the ramp a motorist would take to access the area.
- Over time, locals began to accept the name No Name for their region, and it began to gain recognition because of the oddity. High-level state officials attempted to give the area a proper name, but locals reportedly balked at such a suggestion and No Name endured as the unincorporated area's formal name.

They are written, but not on these plates. Omni 1:18
With so many references to the other writings of the Nephites, it leads one's curiosity to want to read more.
Jarom1:14 And I, Jarom, do not write more, for the plates are small. But behold, my brethren, ye can go to the other plates of Nephi; for behold, upon them the records of our wars are engraven, according to the writings of the kings, or those which they caused to be written.
How can we go to the other plates of Nephi?
1 Nephi 19:4 Wherefore, I, Nephi, did make a record upon the other plates, which gives an account, or which gives a greater account of the wars and contentions and destructions of my people.
Jacob 3:13 And a hundredth part of the proceedings of this people, which now began to be numerous, cannot be written upon these plates; but many of their proceedings are written upon the larger plates
2 Nephi:14 For I, Nephi, was constrained to speak unto them, according to his word; for I had spoken many things unto them, and also my father, before his death; many of which sayings are written upon mine other plates; for a more history part are written upon mine other plates.
The larger plates are not the only records that the Nephites had.
Mosiah 25:5-6 And it came to pass that Mosiah did read, and caused to be read, the records of Zeniff to his people; yea, he read the records of the people of Zeniff, from the time they left the land of Zarahemla until they returned again. 6 And he also read the account of Alma and his brethren, and all their afflictions, from the time they left the land of Zarahemla until the time they returned again.
23 And he said: Behold it proceedeth out of the mouth of a Jew. And I, Nephi, beheld it; and he said unto me: The book that thou beholdest is a record of the Jews, which contains the covenants of the Lord, which he hath made unto the house of Israel; and it also containeth many of the prophecies of the holy prophets; and it is a record like unto the engravings which are upon the plates of brass, save there are not so many; nevertheless, they contain the covenants of the Lord, which he hath made unto the house of Israel; wherefore, they are of great worth unto the Gentiles.
According to this the plates of brass have much more scripture than the Bible.

4 Corners Monument might not really be on the 4 corners intersection!
This map is from Google Earth. It shows the state boundaries intersecting in the canyon, north-west of the Monument.
This map is from Google Maps. They show the state border jogging over just before the intersection!
This map is from MapQuest. It draws the lines right on top of the monument.
This map is from Yahoo. Right on top. (Yahoo had a very slow web site.)
This one is from Bing, right on top.
This is from Google maps, this shows the bent borderline more. I wonder where the true boundary lies.
Here is an interesting article about the boundaries:
And another stating there is no problem.
"instead of a 2.5-mile discrepancy, as reported in the initial news items, this offset is in fact only about 1800 feet, or less. A basic tenet of boundary surveying is that once a monument has been established ..., the location of the physical monument is the ultimate authority in delineating a boundary. In surveying, monuments rule!"
Before the fall, Adam and Eve had physical bodies but no blood.
The Bible Dictionary says, "Before the fall, Adam and Eve had physical bodies but no blood. There was no sin, no death, and no children among any of the earthly creations. With the eating of the “forbidden fruit,” Adam and Eve became mortal, sin entered, blood formed in their bodies, and death became a part of life."
In researching this, I found many sites using this text in the bible dictionary to fuel their anti-Mormon literature. They are bothered that we believe contradictory things, that Adam was created with flesh and blood and that he didn't have blood before the fall.
I guess, the process of creation was not complete until the fall. Thus it can still be said that Adam was created with flesh and blood.
- Reading a comment to this post reminded me of something. Just because someone states something does not make it true. They might have a lot of knowledge, a high level church calling, or are a prophet. It does not matter, that is not the basis for TRUTH. Truth is what it is, and cannot be changed just because someone says something. I plan to ask the Lord what is true in this case.
January 25, 2010 5:21 PMI prayed about it and the Lord confirmed what is in the LDS Bible Dictionary .

- From this site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bible_Dictionary_(LDS_Church) I learned that the LDS bible dictionary is mostly copied, with permission from the Cambridge University Press Bible Dictionary. It was not written mostly by Bruce R Mcconkie, but rather a committee was in charge. Thomas S. Monson was the president of the committee and delegated the writing of the dictionary to Robert J. Matthews. The wiki states that "Despite being packaged with the LDS publication of the Bible, the Bible Dictionary is not part of the LDS Church's open canon of scripture. Its preface states that "[i]t is not intended as an official or revealed endorsement by the Church of the doctrinal, historical, cultural, and other matters set forth.""

Who Wrote this part of Moses 4?
"I spake unto my servant Moses," Who is the I? An angel, Jesus?
"I have spoken them unto you." Who is the I? An angel, Moses, Joseph Smith? Who is the you? Joseph Smith?
As I type this I have been given the answer. The first I is Jesus for these things are true even as Jesus wills it. Jesus has spoken them unto Joseph Smith in translating the Bible. So he was commanded not to show or publish the book of Moses until commanded, except to them that believe.
This text shows that some truths are sacred, some are secret, some are secret to the non-believer. And it is up to the Holy Ghost to tell us when to share and what to share of sacred experiences.

Jacob has seen and heard something by the power of the Holy Ghost that proves all mankind would be lost without Christ.
First he proves there will be a Christ by the Scriptures.
10 And I said unto him: Believest thou the scriptures? And he said, Yea.
11 And I said unto him: Then ye do not understand them; for they truly testify of Christ. Behold, I say unto you that none of the prophets have written, nor prophesied, save they have spoken concerning this Christ.Second he proves there will be a Christ by his own personal experiences.
12 And this is not all—it has been made manifest unto me, for I have heard and seen; and it also has been made manifest unto me by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, I know if there should be no atonement made all mankind must be lost.
Jacob must have seen and heard something that showed that all would be lost without Christ. Perhaps he saw a world without Christ, or perhaps he saw the pre-existence. We know he saw Christ.
2 Ne. 11: 2-3
2 And now I, Nephi, write more of the words of Isaiah, for my soul delighteth in his words. For I will liken his words unto my people, and I will send them forth unto all my children, for he verily saw my Redeemer, even as I have seen him.
3 And my brother, Jacob, also has seen him as I have seen him;
But just seeing Christ would not give you the knowledge that all mankind would be lost without him. I wonder what he saw and heard. The Lord definitely prepared Jacob to have this exact knowledge of Christ's atonement so that he could defend Christ to Sherem. I wonder what we need to know to be able to defend Christ to those around us.

The Pishon is one of four rivers
The Pishon is one of four rivers that comes out of the garden of Eden.
Genesis 2:10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. 11 The name of the first is Pison:
Genesis 2:10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. 11 The name of the first is Pison:
The Hebrew text could be interpreted to mean that the rivers start elsewhere and all meet in Eden. This feels correct.
There are lots of guesses to which river was the Pishon. 2 of the other 4 are known.

Wherefore, we search the prophets, (I am searching and noting my searching on this blog)
and we have many revelations (I have these daily, about daily life... my husband, my children, my needs and my callings)
and the spirit of prophecy; (I have a tiny bit of this)
and having all these witnesses we obtain a hope, (I have obtained this hope.)
and our faith becometh unshaken, (It is almost there!)
insomuch that we truly can command in the name of Jesus and the very trees obey us, (Perhaps I can command some trees soon.)
or the mountains, or the waves of the sea.
Nevertheless, the Lord God showeth us our weakness that we may know that it is by his grace, and his great condescensions unto the children of men, that we have power to do these things.

Jacob 5 - The Olive Tree
Zenos tells the story of the Tame Olive Tree which is like the house of Israel.
Tree Grows old and begins to decay (Israel stops growing toward God)
Master gives it extra care
A few new branches grow
But the main top begins to perish
Burns bad branches
Grafts in wild branches
Gives extra care
Young branches taken elsewhere to be planted
A long time passes away
Main Tree, with wild branches grafted in, has good fruit
Young natural branches - all nourished equally
First - (had been planted in poorest spot) brought forth much good fruit
Another - (poorer spot than first) much fruit
Another - much fruit
Last - (planted in a good spot) part of tree has good fruit, and part has wild (Nephites & Lamanites)
Lord wanted to burn branches that didn't bring forth good fruit
but servant suggest they nourish it a little longer
Servant and Lord nourish all the trees
At one point (referenced later)
All the fruiit of the vineyard is corrupt
except for the last natural branches. (At one point the only righteous group on the earth was the Nephites.)
A long time passed away (The end soon cometh)
Main tree had all kinds of fruit, none of which is good
because it brought froth so much evil fruit it beginneth to perish
Young natural branches corrupt also
Last - wild fruit had overcome good part, so the branch withered away and died.
The Lord plans to burn all the vineyard, but his servant suggest he wait, and he takes the suggestion.
Grafts Young Natural branches back into the Main tree.
Plucks off the branches with the most bitter fruit and burns them.
Don't clear away evil all at once, lest the roots should be too strong for the graft and it perishes.
Clear away the bad as the good shall grow. v.66
Grafts branches from the Main tree to the trees grown from the Young Natural branches.
The last shall be first and the first shall be last. v. 63
They (the various trees) shall be one. v. 68
Servant calls others (only a few come) and they labor diligently to prepare the way.
This is the last time the Lord will prune the vineyard.
Bad branches are slowly cleared as the good grows.
They become like unto one body. v.74 (World wide church)
The fruit is good.
The vineyard is no more corrupted.
The bad is cast away.
For a long time they will lay up fruit. v. 76 (Millennium)
Evil fruit will again come in to the vineyard. (at the end of the millennium)
The good an bad will be gathered.
Good - preserved
Evil - cast away into it's own place
The End - vineyard burned with fire (earth burned).
Continual themes:
Lord is grieved to lose trees.
However the tree and the roots profit the Lord nothing so long as it shall bring forth evil fruit.
Lord weeps, and wonders what could he have done more?
Lord keeps counseling with servant, and is willing to take servant's suggestions. (servant is Man)
Who corrupted the vineyard? The loftiness of the vineyard.
Hope - the good will overcome the evil. v. 59

- Last title suggests that the Nephites were the last group the Lord led away from Israel.

Who wrote 1 Nephi & 2 Nephi? How much did they write?
I read all of 1 Nephi and 2 Nephi and marked down who wrote each chapter. Nephi often quotes Lehi and Isaiah. Jacob quotes Isaiah too. Interesting that Nephi only wrote half of the 2 books named after him. We really don't have much of Nephi's writings. I wish we could read the large plates of Nephi. I logged each writer by chapter. It would be another project to log by words, which would be more accurate since all the chapters are not uniform in length.
It took me about an hour to navigate Excell 2000 until I could get it to make this lovely pie chart with the labels. I am so pleased with it!

My Cousin is in Alexandria, Egypt
Marika, my cousin, posted photos from Alexandria. Caleb and Mary Cleia were wondering if she was near the red sea because they can identify that on the map because of our reading of Around the World in 80 Days. It doesn't look like she is very near the red sea.
I told Caleb and Mary Cleia that they spoke Egyptian there, but I learned from the Wikipedia that they speak Arabic.

The golden wedge of Ophir - what is it?
King James Bible
I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.
Wesley's Notes
13:12 More precious - The city and nation shall be so depopulated.
Ophir (pronounced) oh-feer, is a place known to have much gold. Ophir is also the name of a descendant of Noah. Perhaps he founded the land of Ophir.
http://www.hope-of-israel.org/ hebinusa.htm This web site suggests that Ophir is located in South America?! Have to read more later.
http://lewis-clark.org/content/content-article.asp?ArticleID=623 This web site says Lewis & Clark named a place Ophir hoping it had gold in abundance.
http://bibleatlas.org/ophir.htm This web site suggests 4 possible locations for Ophir.
(1) India and the Far East,
(2) Africa,
(3) Arabia.
